The Problem

Liz, head of Human Resources at a tech company about to go public, wants to better manage the new requisition hiring process. All new headcount requests and offer letters need to be approved by the right people and tracked.

There is no easy way to tell upper management how many requisitions are open at a given time, let alone at what stage. Even with a costly upgrade, the current human resource information system would not meet her needs. No one on her team likes it. The whole process feels like a bad band-aid about to be ripped off.

The HR head is drowning in manual work. Her team is overworked. Top executives are demanding better updates.

Peter, marketing director, is desperate to hire a new manager to run ad campaigns. New to the organization, he is not sure who needs to approve and how to get HR involved. Ultimately, a top candidate emerges. Tessa and Peter cooperate to come up with offer terms and submit an approval request to the Compensation Director, among others.
